Le prime parole del suo battesimo rossoblù svelano l'animo “guerriero” di Maria Florina Pascalau, pivot rumeno giunta alla corte di Roberto Ricchini dopo 9 stagioni in serie A1 con il Priolo, attraverso il quale ha provato l'ebrezza di una finale-scudetto, persa a gara-5 nel 2006.
Esperienza, fame e reattività nell'area, sono le armi che la cestista  di Cluj-Napoca, terza città della Romania e vecchia capitale della Transilvania, mette a disposizione della squadra jonica. Di 12,6 punti e 6,3 rimbalzi la sua media-partita nella carriera in Lega italiana. E’ attualmente atleta della Nazionale di Romania Senior, nella quale ha debuttato ufficialmente all’età di 19 anni nella qualificazione all’Europeo. Vanta 50 presenze e 491 punti.
Pascalau ama il gioco corale e l'aggressività difensiva, come anticamera di un attacco fluido. La sua giocatrice preferita è Lauren Jackson, il coach al quale è più affezionata è il siciliano Santino Coppa, mentre la città affascinante è Barcellona, che sogna di vedere. Nella sua vita lo sport gira a 360 gradi: non solo basket, ma è pratica di beach volley e bowling. Prossimamente dice di voler scoprire il nuoto. Per adesso gioca sulla superficie del parquet.
